North Riverside Recreation
This ALL NEW club is now open to residents and non-residents ages 60 and up who want to meet new people and have fun. The group meets the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month in the Village Commons. Activities throughout the year include bingo, lunch, speakers, entertainment and more! For more information, please call Mildred DeCosola at 708-447-4432.
Popcorn and a Movie
North Riverside presents the Movie of the Month on the big screen. All movies and refreshments are FREE but please pre-register by calling the Recreation Department at 708-442-5515. Movies start at 1:00pm in the Council Chambers.
Learn and share quilting tips, tools and techniques. The group meets the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 6:45pm in the Village Commons. Non-residents are welcome! For more information, please call Dorian Lee at 708-352-4036.
Bring your projects to work on plus exchange talents and patterns with other needlecraft enthusiasts on Friday mornings from 10:00am until noon at the Village Commons. New members are always welcome.
The Bridge Club meets every Monday afternoon at the Village Commons from 12:15pm-3:30pm. Come as a single or a couple. Fee is only $2 per afternoon for residents ($2.50 for non-residents), which includes prizes and refreshments.
We’re branching out and we want you to come and grow with us! We meet the 1st Wednesday of every month at 7:30pm at the Village Commons. For more information, please call Rose Titus at 708-447-0216.
Once a month, experienced stylists come to North Riverside to provide seniors with affordable haircuts. Appointments are required and can be made over the phone by calling 708-442-5515. No walk-ins are accepted. Please have your hair shampooed the day of the haircut. Fee of $6 is payable to the hairstylist.
North Riverside Library
Seniors can enjoy playing cards, refreshments and socializing every Friday in the library. The free program is held in the library’s main level meeting room from 10:00am to noon. No registration is required.
Wednesday Movie Matinee
Shown on the 1st Wednesday of each month at 2:00pm in the main level meeting room. Registration is not necessary. The schedule of movies is listed on the website, in the library newsletter, and in the adult program schedule.
North Riverside Public Library offers homebound delivery for North Riverside residents with a valid library card. Library staff will deliver library materials to the residences of patrons who are homebound or have a difficult time getting to the library. To register or for additional information, please call the library at 708-447-0869.
Blood Pressure Screening
North Riverside residents can have their blood pressure taken at the North Riverside Fire Department Monday through Friday, 1:00pm-5:00pm. Take advantage of regular blood pressure checks and stay healthy. Available on the 1st Wednesday of each month from 9:00am-11:00am in the Village Commons.
Aging Well, a program of Aging Care Connections, is dedicated to working with communities to create an environment in which people can age well. Serving 20 communities in the Lyons, Riverside, and south Proviso Township areas, the program is composed of hundreds of older adults and more than 130 community based organizations working together to create an environment in which people can age well.
The teams include older adults and individuals from community based organizations working together to address aging issues in their local communities.
