Sept. 1

FREE Music Fridays are back at College of DuPage. Enjoy Tony Reyes and Friends at noon at the McAninch Art Center, Fawell and Park Boulevards, Glen Ellyn, and return every Friday for another free performance.

Sept. 2-3

Civil War Encampment takes place at Graue Mill and Museum, 3800 S. York Road, Oak Brook, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Members of the 10th Illinois Regiment and their families depict what life was like in a Union military camp. Find more information at grauemill.org. $4.50, $4 seniors, $2 children 4-12.

Knack for Knitting or Knot is a knitting group that meets Monday evenings at La Grange Public Library, 10 W. Cossitt Ave., La Grange. 7-8:30 p.m. FREE

Sept. 5

Tech Tuesday is a time to get your smart phone, tablet, e-reader and computer questions answered! Visit the La Grange Public Library, 10 W. Cossitt Ave., La Grange, between 2:30 and 4 p.m. If you are unable to come in during drop-in times, call (708) 215-3200, Ext. 226, to schedule an appointment.

Bingo! Takes place from 4 to 10 p.m. every Tuesday at American Legion Post 80, 4000 Saratoga, Downers Grove. Admission is free. Bingo cards and pull tabs are available for purchase.

Sept. 8-10

DarienFest returns for the 30th year from 6 to 10:30 p.m. Friday, 1 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday. Visit Darien Community Park, 71st and Clarendon Hills Road, for food, music and entertainment. Click here for more details.

Sept. 8

“Loving,” a 2016 film about the struggles of an interracial couple in 1960s Virginia and the Supreme Court decision that followed, is the Friday movie at Thomas Ford Memorial Library, 800 Chestnut St., Western Springs. A discussion will follow. 7 p.m. FREE.

Sept. 9

The 3rd annual “Cars for a Cause” Car Show will be held at the corner of 75th Street and Lemont Road, Downers Grove, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sponsored by the Dowenrs Grove Kiwanis Club, all profits will go to local charities. Find more information at www.dgkiwanis.org/carshow.

Sept. 9-10

22nd La Grange West End Arts Festival takes place on Burlington Avenue in downtown La Grange from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. Featuring the works of more than 50 juried artists as well as local students. Admission is FREE.

Grandparents Weekend takes place at Naper Settlement, 523 S. Webster St., Naperville, at 10 a.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. Enjoy inter-generational family activities including an antique tractor display and a visit from a “John Deere” costumed presenter on Saturday. For National Grandparents Day on Sunday, learn about “Collecting Family Folklore,” and Illinois agriculture from the Future Farmers of America and the DuPage County Farm Bureau. $12, $10 seniors, $8 children 4-12

41st Annual Downtown Downers Grove Fine Arts Festival takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day on Main Street between Grove and Curtiss. The show features artists from across the country.  FREE admission.

Revolutionary War Reenactment takes place at 10 a.m. both days at Cantigny Park, 1S151 Winfield Road, Wheaton. Witness mock battles and experience life in the 18th century by strolling through a large encampment of soldiers and civilians. FREE.

Sept. 10

“The Sweet Smell of Success,” a film from 1957, will be shown at 7 p.m. at LaGrange Public Library, 10 W. Cossitt Ave., La Grange. FREE.

Sept. 23

Brookfield Fine Arts Festival takes place at 8820 Brookfield Avenue from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Oak Brook Park District Oktoberfest begins at noon at Central Park, 1450 Forest Gate Road, Oak Brook. Featuring a softball tournament, live music, food, beer and children’s activities. FREE admission.

Regional Health, Wellness, and Safety Family Festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the MAX McCook Athletic and Exposition, 4750 S. Vernon Ave., McCook. More than 100 exhibitors, including cooking and fitness demonstrations, speakers, etc.

Sept. 26
